Welcome. Most adults experience times when anxiety, depression, or other life problems (e.g., with loved ones,  work, health or sexuality, or maintaining a sense of well-being) become difficult to manage. Consultation and treatment for these problems (I provide psychotherapy and/or medication treatment) can be very helpful in relieving emotional distress and optimizing well-being.

My approach is guided by over 40 years of practice, teaching and research. 

I am an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry in the Columbia University Department of Psychiatry, a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and Board Certified (Board of Psychiatry and Neurology).  I am licensed to practice medicine in New York, California, and North Carolina.
